One of the many things I'm working on...

Why must I always have so many projects going at once? I am le silly. Boo focus.

Here is a shot of a portrait I am in the midst of... It's my beautiful mother, but i cant seem to get the expression of the mouth right. I have my work cut out for me... Oh well, just have to keep at it.

Lately I've been trying to force myself to work smaller and faster. It has produced some interesting results. Also dean and I have been studying the same work together and its coming out in both of our styles. These are two of my recent works, the fun stuff I've been playing with.

Victorian designs

My friend who runs an antique shop asked me to do some Victorian designs on a king size headboard... These guys are what I came up with. I think I will wind up doing something cooler with these.

Value study versions:

Line Scans:

Noodles! I mean New Doodles...

I have promised myself I would draw more, and so far I have been doing well.

I even have proof! Here are some sketchbook pages. Some of these guys may even make their way onto some handmade cards... wish them luck. Or better yet, tell me which ones you like best.

In Progress Portrait...

Newest commission... portrait of Bayne and Bess Neild. [it's a surprise to them so don't tell 'em!]

She is getting close to done, but he still has a long way to go before I sleep.

The figures up top will be very indistinct, without much contrast... dreamy if I can manage it. or it could just wind up looking like i forgot to put on my glasses.

Newest Commision

Senior Thesis

This series is called A Few Cards Short of a Deck. It has been a great opportunity to play with the non-traditional portrait, and to practice blending portraiture with illustration. It began with an idea for a self-promotional piece, a self-portrait designed to look like a Queen of Hearts playing card. This idea was quickly followed by the realization that I wanted to create an entire deck of my own. The first step was to create a pattern for the back. Getting this pattern done first helped determine the style/theme of all the face cards: tattoos. I decided for my thesis just to focus on the four Queens, portraits of my lovely roommates. I also had the time to design an Ace of Spades which, like traditional decks, bears a unique logo.
